BUT: one item stands out in such a way that we made an item of it. The historic Roman baths of Baños de Fortuna. A visit is really a must! See below. Further: In nearby Fortuna (10 min. by car), you’ll find all the essentials of daily living—shops, restaurants, and cafés—while the vibrant city of Murcia is just a 30-minute drive away. The area is rich with cultural and natural treasures: from Roman sites like the sanctuary Cueva Negra, to picturesque springs such as San Jeronimo and dramatic gorge-passages like La Cortao de la Pena. Several national parks lie within easy reach, including Sierra de la Pila, home to ancient snow pits (Pozos de Nieve), lush flora and fauna, and breathtaking panoramic viewpoints including the summit of La Pila itself. Baños de Fortuna
It's a five minutes drive to a really unique place: the historic Roman baths of Baños de Fortuna. Already in the 5th century BC, the Romans new how to enjoy the mineral-rich warm mineral waters of the natural spring that made this location famous and loved throughout centuries, until this day on. The original well is still there and can be visited easily in the street. The hot spring is nourishing both some public swimming pools as well as a luxurious wellness resort, offering spa treatments, thermal pools, and therapeutic services. Imagine yourself sitting on exact the same spot in a warm bath where 2500 years ago a roman citizen of notable closed his or her eyes and enjoyed the caressing of the warm waters and the quietness, feeling all days worries disappear and experience a moment of total relaxation... Oh yes, that is really possible. The original Roman bath chambers are still in use, beautiful preserved and restored, with modern accessories blended in harmonically. This is a must do!!
